I passed the SAS Certification for Base SAS 9 this past January, but just barely. I had spent a few years with the language in three different analyst jobs, and I felt like I knew my way around, but the test is very well designed and sadly, there isn’t much out there in the way of reasonably priced resources.
I checked out this book from the library. It…leaves much to be desired. There are plenty of spelling errors throughout that bothered me and it’s not well-formatted. There’s no color-coding of syntax…I could go on. And the official SAS study guides are a bit too much for someone on a budget like myself.
There are online courses, but unless you can get your company to pay for them, they run upwards of $2,000. Besides – the BEST way I found to study for tests or certifications is to simply go through practice examples and then see the explanation as to why I was or was not correct.
…So that is what I am doing with this site. My goal is to create the site that I LOOKED for but couldn’t find as most of the practice sites out there are spammy or hastily constructed or worse. Even when there are practice questions with answers, you never see the log or output or see commentary on WHY it is the correct answer.
I still have some SAS certifications that I would like to knock out, and I’d rather not shell out boatloads of cash to pass. They say the best way to learn a subject is to teach it. Here we go.
